About the tournament

One day of football against the academies of some of Spain's biggest clubs. The Promises Cup Barcelona brings sixteen U11 teams — FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, Villarreal, Valencia and more — to the Camp Municipal d'Esports de Corbera, outside Barcelona, on Saturday 5 December 2026.

European Sport Events brings international teams to the tournament and takes care of their trip: the hotel, transfers and time in Barcelona.

One day. Sixteen teams. Saturday 5 December 2026.

The day

Sixteen teams in four groups of four, on two pitches. The top two in each group go through to the quarter-finals. Every other team plays on: the teams out after the groups play a consolation match, for 9th to 16th place, and the quarter-final losers play for 5th to 8th — so every team plays at least four matches.

  1. Group stage — groups A and B, until 12:30
  2. Consolation matches, groups A and B — the third-placed teams (9th–12th) and the fourth-placed (13th–16th)
  3. Group stage — groups C and D, until 16:00
  4. Consolation matches, groups C and D — the third-placed teams (9th–12th) and the fourth-placed (13th–16th)
  5. Quarter-finals 1 and 2 — the winners of groups A and B against the runners-up of B and A
  6. Quarter-finals 3 and 4 — the winners of groups C and D against the runners-up of D and C
  7. The quarter-final losers play for 5th to 8th place
  8. Semi-finals
  9. Third-place match
  10. Final
  11. Trophy presentation, and the close

Lunch at the venue, by group: C at 11:00, D at 11:30, A at 13:00 and B at 13:30.

The rules

  • 7-a-side, goalkeeper included, under the Catalan Football Federation's Football 7 rules — a pitch of about 60 × 40 m and a size-4 ball
  • Up to 14 players a squad, and unlimited rolling substitutions
  • Group matches are one half of 25 minutes, consolation matches 20 minutes, and the knockout rounds two halves of 15 minutes
  • Referees appointed by the Catalan Football Federation
The full rules
Squads
Up to 14 players, born in the Aleví stage; the organisers will consider a club's special case. Each club sends the organisers its list with every player's date of birth and shirt number.
Line-up and substitutions
Seven players including the goalkeeper. There is no limit on substitutions, and a substituted player may come back on with the referee's permission. A player sent off cannot be replaced. Substitutions are made without stopping play, except for the goalkeeper or when the referee decides otherwise.
A team short of players
If a team is left with fewer than five players, the referee ends the match and it is scored 3–0, unless the score at that moment is wider.
Kit clash
If the two teams' colours clash and they cannot agree, a draw decides which plays as the away side.
Before kick-off
Before each group match and each consolation match, a toss decides the ends or the kick-off.
Group ties
Decided by the result between the teams, then goal difference, goals scored, goals conceded, and finally a 3-penalty shoot-out. A three-way tie is settled on a table of those three teams' matches.
Knockout ties
A drawn quarter-final or semi-final goes to 3 penalties each, then sudden death. Any registered player may take a penalty, including one on the bench. A drawn final has 5 minutes of extra time, then penalties.
Papers
Each player's federation licence for the 2026/27 season and identity document, whenever the organisers ask.
Anything else
Anything these rules do not cover is decided by the Catalan Football Federation's rules.
